Back to Script Generator
How to use the Script Generator
Two ways to get a DBA script: fill in a battle-tested template (generated locally, no AI), or describe what you need and have the AI write and refine a custom one.
Quick start
- 1On Templates, filter by engine, pick a template, and adjust its parameters — the script updates live.
- 2Or switch to Describe what you need (AI), set engine + language, and describe the task.
- 3Click Copy / Copy script to grab it.
Templates (local, no AI)
Filter by engine (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Snowflake), pick a template, and fill in its parameters — names, thresholds, toggles. The Generated script regenerates instantly; click Copy. Many templates embed real-world caveats in comments — read them before running.
Describe what you need (AI)
Set the Engine and Language (SQL, PowerShell, Bash, Python), describe the task (or click an example), and click Generate script. Refine with a chip (“Add error handling and logging”, “Make it idempotent”, “Add a dry-run mode”) or a typed follow-up, then Copy script.
Tips for the best results
- Templates cover ~12 scripts across five engines; the AI mode supports many more (Oracle, MariaDB, Azure SQL, RDS/Aurora, Redshift, BigQuery).
- Copy script grabs just the code from the latest good reply; the whole thread stays in context so refinements build on it.
- Selections and generated scripts persist across navigation; the AI tab's Clear wipes only that conversation.
- Always review embedded caveats — some scripts need an extension, module, or specific edition.
